In this review, I test the Supergoop Handscreen SPF40 sunscreen. While it isn’t called a sunscreen, if it looks like a sunscreen, protects like a sunscreen, and WORKS like a sunscreen, then it IS a sunscreen (to me at least). Supergoop states that the handscreen is a preventative hand cream that is also super hydrating. While I cant vouch for that statement, I do know that the handscreen is a great blocker of UV RAYS! Not to mention, I really like the name Supergoop. It’s not pretentious, it sounds like something my 8 year old daughter would like to play with, and it makes me…happy 🙂 And honestly, after the Covid pandemic and current Ukraine war situation, being happy is what its all about.
It is a chemical based sunscreen which uses three chemical components, Avobenzone 3%, Octisalate 5%, Octocrylene 10%. What I think I like best about this cream is that it works surprisingly well. In fact, the Supergoop SPF40 reduced the UVI by 99.63%, reduced UVA by 99.78%, and reduced UVB intensity by 97.19%. This sunscree…I mean handscreen, tested very well.

The Supergoop SPF 40 is nice and consistent. It spreads evenly and has a nice consistency.

Ultraviolet light quick reference:
UVA: The Ultraviolet wavelength from 315nm – 400nm. The “Aging UV light” – Causes wrinkles.
UVB: The Ultraviolet wavelength from 280nm – 315nm. The “Bad UV light” – Causes skin cancer.
UVI: The global sun UV index. The more a sunscreen can reduce the level of UVI, the better.

Testing notes:
The Supergoop Handscreen SPF40 is a VERY effective sunscreen which is used to protect top of the hand skin from getting age spots. The thing is, you can use this cream anywhere on your body and be sure that you would be effectively protected from ultraviolet rays during high UV Index days. Heck, Supergoop could have called this cream a neck screen, nose screen, pinky screen, toe screen, kneecap screen, or whatever screen. Although it is marketed as a HANDSCREEN, it is a very effective broad spectrum sunscreen capable of protection on any part of the skin.
It spread consistently, and absorbs easily while providing strong protection. I recommend this product for protecting oneself from the harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun.
