Missha No.23 SPF42 PA+++ review

Missha No.23 B.B. Cream SPF42 PA+++ sunscreen review

Quick Summary:

Date Tested: 01/29/2022

In this review, I evaluate the Missha No.23 B.B. Cream SPF42 PA+++ sunscreen using my UV testing station. The Missha No.23 sunscreen has good viscosity which is neither too runny or too thick, it applies easily and evenly. It takes a hybrid approach to blocking ultraviolet rays as it incorporates both physical (Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide) and chemical (Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate) sunscreen. It is primarily a chemical based sunscreen as the formula contains 7.5% Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, followed by the physical blockers at 7% zinc oxide, and 4.19% Titanium Dioxide.

The formulation provides very consistent UV protection across the spectrum, as it reduced UVI by 85.68%, UVA by 85.82%, and UVB irradiance by 83.04%. It is a solid performer.

Note: This review does not comment on how it looks and works with a makeup regimen. I only test its ability to protect against ultraviolet irradiance.

Testing notes:

The Missha sunscreen formulation combines both chemical and physical blocking sunscreens. It also comes in a variety of colors which make it suitable for use as a makeup foundation. Its ability to spread evenly and still provide consistent UV protection is notable. While it isn’t the highest performing sunscreen due to the mixed nature of being used as a foundation as well as offering UV protection, it does both quite well (even scoring higher than some sunscreen-only formulas).

I do recommend this sunscreen and would feel good letting my wife use it on a daily basis.
