Quick Summary:
Date Tested: 06/11/2022
I love testing sunscreen. Why? Because I love finding products which defy my initial first impressions and surprise me. This is one of those products.
The Coola Sun Silk sunscreen packaging looks great (comes in a hefty glass bottle), but tests very poorly. “Coola?” Nah, its “Poola.”
The Sun Silk Creme reduced the UVI by 59.84%, reduced UVA by 60.16%, and reduced UVB intensity by 55.72%. Although the bottle touts all the marketable selling points that we look for when purchasing a sunscreen, it is very expensive and…it doesn’t perform well. PASS.

Prepared slide ready for testing
The Coola SPF30 looked pretty terrible once applied to the slide. It was completely unevenly distributed.
What’s worse…for the first time ever, I had to take a picture after the sample was tested just 2 hours afterwards because it looked even WORSE.
Slide after 2 hours of testing
After just 2 hours of testing the sample had really dried out around the outer edges of the sample, leaving only the Zinc Oxide active ingredient. This confirms my friends usage – she mentioned it leaves a weird dry film on the skin.

Testing notes:
The Coola SPF 30 Sun Silk Creme performed terribly and dried out during the 2 hour test. I cant imagine the sunscreen performing well in real world use. I can see it rubbing off easily, and providing very little protection…not to mention, it would probably look pretty bad on your skin. It is an expensive product, packaged very well, but just terrible in ultraviolet blocking ability. This is a product where slick marketing is trying to hide the poor performance of the product.
Don’t buy it. If you get it for free, don’t use it.

This product looks nice but performs terrible. I do NOT recommend.
